In recent days, a group of German scientists made an important discovery linked to the Earth's core . Apparently, a geological process has caused a small amount of gold to leak from this part of the planet. What does this discovery entail?

According to information provided by the Unilad website, based on a study conducted by the University of Göttingen in Germany, an unusual situation is occurring that allows the world's largest gold reserve, located deep within the planet, to transfer some precious metals. "When the first results came in, we realized we had literally struck gold. Our data confirmed that material from the core, including gold and other precious metals, is seeping into the Earth's mantle," said Dr. Nils Messling of the Department of Geochemistry at the aforementioned university. After observing this, scientists suspected that the Earth's core was releasing metals, which were rising to the crust.

“About 40 years ago, the theory was first put forward that the core might be losing material into the mantle, but the signals we've received so far have been very ambiguous. Now, in my opinion, we have the first very strong evidence that part of the core is reaching the mantle,” he noted.

Where can you find gold?

According to information provided by the Drac Metales website, pure gold can be found in some rivers across the globe. Russia is probably the territory with the highest quantity, unlike places like Spain, Austria, or Romania. "Certain river rocks contain gold nuggets. Thanks to the force of the water, the gold nuggets separate from the rock and remain at the bottom of the riverbed in the form of small particles," the aforementioned website adds.
