What's the difference between the iPhone 17 and the iPhone Air? Much more than a slim phone, if you look inside.

Apple officially unveiled its new line of mobile devices, AirPods and Apple Watch. At the traditional Apple Event, the tech giant shared all the details of one of the most anticipated iPhones in recent years, the iPhone 17, and all its versions.
Apple introduced the world to the new generation of iPhone, which includes the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, which would 'replace' the plus model and the iPhone 17 Pro. One of the details that most caught the attention of this new device is that it is the thinnest iPhone to date, with a thickness of 5.5 millimeters and an approximate weight of 165 grams.

According to the technology manufacturer, the iPhone 17 measures 71.5 millimeters wide and 149.6 millimeters high, and its weight is around 177 grams.
The iPhone 17 features the A19 chip, which powers various Apple Intelligence features like Live Translation and Image Playground, and ProMotion for playing advanced AAA games.
The iPhone 17 also has a long-lasting battery, with Apple promising all-day battery life with a 10-minute quick charge, offering up to 8 hours of video playback.
iPhone 17 features a 48-megapixel dual camera system, with a 2x Optical Telephoto lens and a 48-megapixel Fusion Ultra Wide camera with 4x the resolution of the Ultra Wide camera on iPhone 16. The front-facing camera has 18-megapixel Center Stage technology.
This new iPhone model returns to the physical SIM card, as the iPhone 15 and 16 models only supported eSIM. This iPhone model is available for purchase starting at $799, approximately 3,100,000 Colombian pesos .

One of the biggest surprises for Apple users was the arrival of the iPhone Air, one of the thinnest and lightest models Apple has introduced to date, weighing in at 165 grams and measuring 5.6 millimeters thick. This device measures 74.7 millimeters wide and 156.2 millimeters tall, standing out and attracting attention with its ultra-thin design.
The iPhone Air has the A19 Pro chip, one of the most powerful in the different iPhone models to date, according to the company in the official presentation of the devices.
“The A19 Pro chip delivers the fastest CPU of any smartphone and features our most advanced GPU yet, so you can enjoy even the most demanding AAA games. Each GPU core incorporates a Neural Accelerator, providing new capabilities for your everyday tasks,” the company notes on its website.
Another major new feature is that this device only has a 48-megapixel rear camera, which works like multiple advanced cameras in one. According to Apple, the iPhone Air can capture photos in ultra-high resolution for exceptional detail or at 24 megapixels by default, or use the built-in 2x telephoto lens to zoom in with exceptionally sharp quality. The front camera is the same as the iPhone 17 and has 18-megapixel Center Stage technology.
Another major innovation is that the first device in the Air line only supports eSIM, as its ultra-thin design makes it impossible to incorporate a slot for the physical chip. The iPhone Air is available for purchase starting at $999, approximately 3,900,000 pesos.
What are the main differences? The iPhone 17 maintains a more traditional design with a greater thickness and a weight of 177 grams, while the iPhone Air becomes the thinnest and lightest in the line, at just 5.6 millimeters thick and weighing 165 grams. Additionally, the Air is taller and wider, reinforcing its sleek, minimalist appearance.
In terms of power, the iPhone 17 features the A19 chip, enough to power Apple's intelligence functions and deliver good performance in advanced games. The iPhone Air, on the other hand, raises the bar by integrating the A19 Pro chip, which not only offers a faster CPU but also a more advanced GPU with neural accelerators in each core, designed for those seeking more demanding graphics tasks and AAA video games.
The camera system is another of the great contrasts. The iPhone 17 integrates a dual 48-megapixel array, with a 2x optical-quality telephoto lens and an improved ultra-wide angle compared to previous generations. The iPhone Air, meanwhile, features a single 48-megapixel rear camera, which acts as multiple cameras thanks to its versatility, allowing for ultra-high-resolution captures, 24 MP preset photos, and a 2x zoom with great sharpness. In both models, the front camera is 18 MP with Center Stage technology.
