The end of an era: Google's new offering could replace the iconic 'I'm Feeling Lucky' button.

Google is radically changing its image. The Mountain View company announced that the multicolored "G" that represents its logo in many of its services and applications will be updating its color scheme to blend into each other using a gradient, resulting in a more modern image that visually aligns with the style used in the Gemini logo. However, beyond this change, Google is reportedly about to say goodbye to the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button .

This button appears just below the Google search bar on its home page. It's been around since 1998 and allows users to directly access the first result Google considers most relevant to a query. But with the arrival of artificial intelligence, this option could disappear, giving way to the "AI Mode" button .

The Verge newspaper reveals that some users are starting to see 'AI Mode', and several reports have come to light on the social network X (formerly Twitter) that show how a new interaction button has appeared on the search engine .

As you can see in the image below, 'AI Mode' appears on the right side of the search bar , occasionally in gray or Google's corporate color scheme. However, other users have noticed that this new feature is replacing the 'I'm Feeling Lucky' button .

Is this news official?

This change is nothing new. The Verge reports that "Google announced on May 1 that a small percentage of people in the US would soon see the 'AI Mode' option in Google Search." However, for now, Google spokesperson Ashley Thompson told the paper that the button is limited to users of the Google Labs experimental environment.

It's not yet guaranteed that the 'I'm Feeling Lucky' option will be officially replaced by 'AI Mode,' but knowing that the Mountain View company is considering it could upset those who use this specific feature.
