Sánchez says they acted decisively against Cerdán and now it's time for justice.

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez emphasized that the party acted "forcefully" with former Socialist Organization Secretary Santos Cerdán, who was sentenced to prison by a judge on Monday in the Koldo case. He said that now it is up to the courts to determine his responsibilities.

Sánchez addressed the situation of his former number 3 in the party at a press conference during the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, which opened this Monday at the Exhibition and Congress Center (Fibes).

He insisted that the PSOE acted "forcefully" from the outset, assumed political responsibility, Cerdán was removed from the party, and now it is up to the courts, he emphasized, to determine "exactly what the responsibilities are in Cerdán's case."

Sánchez expressed "maximum cooperation with the justice system" and respect for its work, emphasizing that, from a political perspective, the PSOE's position is "very different" from other parties, which "do not assume any type of responsibility," referring to the PP.

Supreme Court Judge Leopoldo Puente has ordered Santos Cerdán to be held in prison without bail, as requested by the Prosecutor's Office, for his alleged role in a bribery scheme stemming from alleged irregular public works contracts.

This is the first time the judge has made a decision of this magnitude in the investigation he is also conducting against former minister José Luis Ábalos and his former advisor Koldo García, who have received less serious precautionary measures—a ban on leaving Spain, revocation of their passports, and biweekly appearances.
