Samuel García announces key changes to his Nuevo León cabinet

Nuevo León Governor Samuel García announced a cabinet reshuffle this Friday, with key changes to the General Secretariats of Government, Economy, and Education, in a strategic move to, in his words, "close out the door" of his administration.

In a move aimed at reinvigorating his administration as he enters the final stretch, Nuevo León Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda announced five significant changes to his top-level cabinet this Friday. The changes affect strategic areas such as governance, the economy, and education, and represent the replacement of key figures who have served the president since the beginning of his administration.

The restructuring, officially announced in the State Official Gazette, seeks, in the words of the governor, to "close the best administration in the history" of Nuevo León. The new appointments are:

* Secretary General of Government: Miguel Ángel Flores Serna takes over, replacing Javier Navarro. Flores Serna, who served as Head of the Governor's Office and coordinator of the MC caucus in Congress, is tasked with ensuring governability and advancing key mobility projects.

* Ministry of Economy: Betsabé Rocha Nieto is the new head. Her main objective will be to consolidate Nuevo León's position as a leader in economic indicators and strengthen support for SMEs and women entrepreneurs.

* Ministry of Education: Juan Paura García takes the reins of this department. His administration's priority will be to strengthen dual education so that more young people can continue their higher education.

* Executive Office of the Governor: Mariela Saldívar, who served as head of the State Commission for Regulatory Improvement, assumes this position in place of Eduardo Gaona.

The outgoing secretaries are not leaving the government's inner circle, but have been relocated to newly created positions designed to capitalize on their experience.

* Javier Navarro Velasco, who served as Secretary General of Government, will now be the Coordinator of the Good Government Cabinet. García recognized his work in consolidating the state's new Constitution.

* Sofialeticia Morales Garza, who headed the Ministry of Education, will move to the Educational Legacy Coordination Office. Her role will be to strengthen the educational ecosystem with universities and the Nuevo León Council.

The cabinet changes quickly generated a stir in the local political arena. Representatives from various parliamentary groups, such as the PRI, Morena, and the Citizen Movement itself, expressed confidence that the new leadership would effectively address the issues citizens face daily, such as security, mobility, and air quality.

This adjustment to Samuel García's team comes at a crucial moment in his administration and will be key to defining his government's legacy and his ability to deliver on the promises made to the people of Nuevo León. Citizens expect these changes to translate into tangible results, not just a rearrangement of pieces on the political chessboard.
