Unapec celebrates its 60th anniversary

APEC University ( Unapec ) began its commemorative activities for its 60th anniversary with a solemn thanksgiving Mass , officiated by Bishop Emeritus Ramón Benito Ángeles Fernández.
The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Elena Viyella , president of the Board of Directors of Unapec and the rector of the institution, Erik Pérez Vega, and is part of a broad program of activities that the entity has been developing to celebrate six decades of history.
UNAPEC is the flagship institution of Acción Pro-Educación y Cultura (APEC), an entity established as the APEC Group, which brings together other sister institutions. Since its founding in 1965, the university has contributed to the educational, business, and social transformation of the country.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Viyellla emphasized that this commemoration "is not only an act of gratitude for what we have achieved, but also a look toward the future , toward a more international, innovative university committed to the human values that have underpinned our mission for six decades."
During the Mass, he highlighted the importance of the more than 44,000 UNAPEC graduates who today occupy leadership positions in business, government, academia, and society, contributing to the country's development and the Dominican Republic's international projection.
"We know that universities are called to do more than just transmit knowledge; we must educate responsible, ethical citizens committed to building a more equitable, innovative, and competitive society," emphasized the president of Unapec's Board of Directors.
Quality education
Regarding these anniversaries, the rector of Unapec , Erik Pérez Vega, pointed out that since its creation, Unapec has remained faithful to the vision of its founders.
"To offer quality, innovative education with a strong social commitment, becoming a key player in building the Dominican present and future."
He stated that the institution's commitment to higher education has been marked by constant innovation and the ability to anticipate changes in the environment.
He indicated the commitment in its first decades to careers oriented towards the world of business , administration, accounting and languages, fundamental areas to accompany the growth of the productive sector.
"Its graduates have contributed to the creation and strengthening of national and international companies , the efficient management of public and private institutions, the development of state policies , and the promotion of community-impact initiatives," he noted.
At the same time, it is emphasized that "it constitutes one of the institution 's greatest prides, as it represents the realization of our educational mission and the best testament to our contribution to the country's economic and social development."
