The United States and Colombia held "positive" talks in Washington on Thursday in search of an agreement on the recent tariff measures imposed by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Colombia's Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Cielo Rusinque Urrego, and Colombia's Ambassador to the United States, Daniel García-Peña, spoke today with the United States Trade Representative , Jamieson Greer, about the 10% and 25% tariffs imposed on imports from the South American country. In a statement, the Colombian government explained that the meeting focused on seeking mutual agreements that eliminate tariff barriers between the two countries.
The Trump administration has implemented 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum, as well as a general 10% tariff , which affects exports of flowers, coffee, bananas, avocados, and clothing, among other Colombian products.
