These are the new retirement ages for ISSSTE pensions.

Following the reform of the pension system of the Institute of Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) , which was made official by a presidential decree on June 24, 2025, public sector workers will be able to retire at a younger age.

Before the reform, the minimum age for registering as a worker with the ISSSTE (National Institute of Social Security) to apply for retirement was 60; however, the change in the minimum age for early retirement seeks to recognize decades of work experience and a dignified retirement.

Here we'll tell you the new retirement ages for male and female state workers and who can apply before turning 60.

The reform indicates that this new form of retirement applies to workers enrolled in the Tenth Transitory Regime of the ISSSTE Law, which has been in effect since 2007.

This scheme includes those who are part of the traditional pension system and are outside the individual account system and did not accept the pension bonus.

Workers in sectors such as the judiciary, medical, administrative, and teaching, among others, are eligible for a lower retirement age.

If you belong to the aforementioned system or know someone who does, we'll now tell you the new minimum ages for filing for retirement before age 60 and enjoying a dignified retirement.

It's worth mentioning that the retirement age will be reduced gradually starting in 2025, as established by the new reform, and will be distributed as follows:

2025 - 2027: Minimum age of 56 years

2028 - 2030: Minimum age of 55 years

2031 - 2033: Minimum age of 54 years

Since 2034: Minimum age of 53 years

2025 - 2027: Minimum age of 58 years

2028 - 2030: Minimum age of 57 years

2031 - 2033: Minimum age of 56 years

Since 2034: Minimum age of 55 years

Another requirement, in addition to the minimum age for the new early retirement, is the number of years worked at the institute, which is a minimum of 28 years for women and a minimum of 30 years for men.

Workers with individual accounts will not have access to this gradual reduction; in their case, the minimum age for early retirement is only 55.
