The mayor of Piedras Negras denies the prosecutor's office's accusations of animal abuse.

PIEDRAS NEGRAS, COAH.- The mayor of Piedras Negras, Jacobo Rodríguez, assured this Wednesday that so far he has not received formal notification of any complaint filed by the Green Party representative, Jorge Arturo Valdés Flores , regarding the case of the dead dogs that municipal employees dumped in the landfill.
During his morning press conference, Rodríguez denied reports from the State Attorney General's Office that municipal workers had been summoned to testify about the video that showed animal abuse. "There are no subpoenas to date for all those involved; that's a lie," he stated.

The case arose after a video, posted on social media on October 11, showed an official municipal truck unloading dozens of dog bodies at the landfill, sparking public outrage under hashtags such as #AnimalHolocaust and #PiedrasNegras.
Representative Jorge Arturo Valdés went to Piedras Negras to formally file a complaint for animal abuse with the State Attorney General's Office , arguing that the incidents constitute a crime and represent a serious lack of institutional sensitivity. However, the mayor reiterated that he is unaware of any complaints filed and that his administration will cooperate with the Attorney General's Office if any exist.
Rodríguez also asserted that the animals' bodies had not been cremated to allow for the necessary forensic examinations and defended his administration's commitment to submitting the semiannual reports required by Propaec on the capture and slaughter of animals, although he admitted that the manner in which the bodies were disposed of was inappropriate.
The case remains under investigation, and municipal authorities have promised to clarify who is responsible, while citizens maintain pressure on the administration to ensure justice and sanctions for those found responsible.
