Rains in Mexico City cause chaos and damage to homes, vehicles, and streets.

Heavy rains began early in Mexico City , causing damage to homes, vehicles, avenues, and streets in the Iztacalco, Venustiano Carranza, Iztapalapa, Cuauhtémoc, and Gustavo A. Madero boroughs, the latter being one of the hardest hit.
The Mexico City government activated Operation Tlaloque early this morning to address emergencies in at least ten municipalities.

For the fourth time in 2025, a purple alert, the highest in its category, was activated; this time in the Gustavo A. Madero borough; red in Iztacalco, Iztapalapa, and Venustiano Carranza; orange in Azcapotzalco, Benito Juárez, Coyoacán, Cuauhtémoc, Milpa Alta, and Tlalpan; and yellow in the remaining boroughs.
In Gustavo A. Madero, in the Indios Verdes area, floodwaters exceeded 50 centimeters in height ; in Insurgente Norte, members of the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) assisted several stranded motorists. They also reported the fall of three trees and a fence.
The Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) received a report of flooding at an ISSSTE hospital on University Avenue in the Álvaro Obregón district , as well as the San Lázaro Metro station in Venustiano Carranza.

The Secretariat for Integrated Water Management (Segiagua) along with the Iztapalapa mayor's office went to the Vicente Guerrero unit due to the flooding of several homes, where they conducted a census and delivered more than 500 cleaning kits to affected residents.
While the Heroic Fire Department responded to more than 70 flooding incidents , as well as the fall of more than 10 trees in various municipalities.
This morning, personnel from the Traffic Control Undersecretariat and SSC sector offices assisted the passengers of a minibus that was stranded on the underpass of the Churubusco River Canal and Talleres Gráficos due to the rain . Following the rescue, 33 women and 30 men were rescued, while the truck was towed.

The accumulation of water caused the closure of traffic on the Río de la Piedad Viaduct, which caused chaos among drivers until noon.
