Health Routes deliver 28 million medicines

Alejandro Svarch Pérez , general director of IMSS-Bienestar , reported that two weeks after implementing the Health Routes strategy, 28 million medications were delivered to 8,061 health centers and 578 hospitals in 23 states across the country.

"This was the first monthly delivery of the Health Routes strategies. From now on, we will carry out these Routes every month to maintain 100% supply in all IMSS-Bienestar health centers and hospitals," the undersecretary stated.

He stated that with this operation, no health center or hospital was left without their medication package , and emphasized: "Today we can say that all 8,639 IMSS-Bienestar pharmacies are supplied."

Alejandro Svarch emphasized that this strategy is eliminating access barriers and demonstrating that it is possible to guarantee the right to health with organization, planning, and commitment . "With trucks, boats, and special routes, we will guarantee medicines to every corner of our country."

He explained that the states with the highest number of units and packages or kits distributed are: the State of Mexico, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Puebla, Veracruz, Tabasco, Hidalgo, Chiapas, Michoacán, and Tamaulipas, entities where the greatest organizational effort was concentrated and where coverage was timely.

The director also reported that in the Laboratory in Your Clinic program, they have 606 sample collection units and have performed more than 600 thousand studies on nearly 50 thousand patients , "as of yesterday it is already in Mexico City, Quintana Roo, Tlaxcala and Baja California Sur and as of October 1 it will operate in 23 entities adhering to IMSS-Bienestar," reported the federal official.

The goal of this strategy is to take blood samples at health clinics, thereby reducing the burden on hospitals; "of course, so that people don't have to travel far from their homes and spend money on laboratory tests, and to ensure timely and free diagnoses at the heart of the health system at the primary level of care."
