Coahuila and Claudia must work to correct Los Chorros, reactivate Monclova, and address the water crisis: deputies and councilors

This Sunday, President Claudia Sheinbaum will visit Coahuila as part of her administration's first year. VANGUARDIA consulted with council members and legislators about the issues they consider priority for the state .
Saltillo councilwoman Lejandra Salazar, representing Morena, pointed out that one of the urgent issues is the city's water crisis. She explained that the lack of recharge of aquifers, due to the type of rainfall recorded in the region, complicates the equitable supply of water.

“According to experts, the aquifers are not adequately charged by the type of rainfall we have in Saltillo, which makes supplying water to the entire city slow and complicated, ” he said.
He added that, in addition to the scarcity, there is no artificial catchment system to harness rainfall . Therefore, he considered coordination among the three levels of government to be a priority in creating an efficient water plan.
“ Conagua's participation is essential for cleaning and dredging streams, so we can stem the ravages of the torrential rains that no longer surprise the people of Saltillo. Together, the federal, state, and municipal governments will be able to channel these rains and guarantee drinking water as what it truly is: a human right ,” he emphasized.

For his part, PRI federal deputy Jericó Abramo Masso highlighted the expansion of the Saltillo-Monclova highway and the modernization of Highway 57 in the section known as Los Chorros as important issues, in addition to strengthening security and relations with the United States.
"The President's work has been positive; she's left the politics of hugs behind to get to work," he said.
Meanwhile, local Morena representative Alberto Hurtado agreed on the urgency of intervening on Highway 57 and added that another challenge is boosting the economic recovery of the Centro region, where 25,000 workers remain in uncertainty.
Claudia Sheinbaum assumed the presidency on October 1 and presented her first state of the nation address on September 1. During her 11 months in office, she has visited Coahuila several times, primarily the coal mining region, where she oversees the rescue work in Pasta de Conchos.
