Tour de France: Milan wins eighth stage - Pogacar still in yellow

Laval. Top Italian sprinter Jonathan Milan has won the eighth stage of the 112th Tour de France. The 2021 Olympic track cycling champion won the 171.4-kilometer bunch sprint from Saint-Méen-Le-Grand to Laval, ahead of Belgian Wout van Aert and Australian Kaden Groves. German sprinter Pascal Ackermann finished fourth.
Tadej Pogacar continues to wear the overall winner's yellow jersey. The Slovenian world champion, who has already won two stages in this year's Tour, reached the finish line with the peloton and is 54 seconds ahead of Belgian double Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel in the overall standings. His closest rival, Jonas Vingegaard, is 1:17 minutes back in fourth.
Meanwhile, German professional cyclist Jonas Rutsch was involved in a crash 19 kilometers from the finish, but was able to continue.
Another sprint finish is expected on Sunday. The ninth stage, covering 174.1 kilometers from Chinon to Chateauroux, will be entirely flat.
