Former Defense Minister: Poland Can't Defend Itself. We Must Build Military Strength Together with NATO and the US

On Independence Day, Jan Parys, former Minister of National Defence, in an interview with the CIS, reminds that Poland's security in the 21st century cannot be based solely on domestic military resources.
"In this difficult situation of war threat to Poland, the most important thing is to build its military strength in agreement with the North Atlantic Alliance and within the framework of NATO's plans for defending Europe. No European country can defend itself against Russia on its own ," Parys emphasizes.
Our interlocutor emphasizes that Poland should fully utilize the potential of cooperation with allies, especially with the United States – the largest military partner of the West.
We must count on our allies, and above all on the USA, which not only spends the most on defense, but also has the largest military potential in the world, he adds.
Parys points out that modern defense today is not only about the size of the army, but above all about technology .
"Beyond drones, we need to invest in research into new military technologies. We have excellent IT specialists who could develop the production of integrated circuits, crucial for defense and the entire industry," he says.
According to the former minister, combining the potential of Polish scientists and industry with the experience of allies can strengthen the country's technological independence and bring tangible economic benefits.
– This is not only a matter of security, but also an opportunity to develop modern industry, which may become a pillar of Polish independence in the future – concludes Parys.
