US President Trump is becoming increasingly angry with Kremlin leader Putin.

Against the backdrop of massive Russian airstrikes on Ukraine, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov will meet today (12:00 CEST/6:00 PM local time) in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. This is according to Rubio's schedule published by the US State Department. The meeting will take place on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
Rubio and Lavrov first met in person almost five months ago in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The two subsequently spoke several times by phone as the US pushed for a ceasefire in Ukraine.
On Wednesday, Russia launched its most massive drone attack on Ukraine since the beginning of its war of aggression against Ukraine almost three and a half years ago. Ukrainian air defenses had to repel more than 700 drones.
US President Donald Trump is increasingly dissatisfied with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. On Tuesday, he accused him of talking "bullshit" regarding a peace solution to the war in Ukraine. Trump had previously reiterated his support for a swift end to the war and emphasized that he was not at all happy with Putin. Therefore, the US would send some defensive weapons to Ukraine – he had approved this. On Wednesday, Trump then said the US would review Ukraine's request for an additional Patriot air defense system.
