Gabrielle: The It-Girl reveals her makeup tricks – and what she would wear to Berghain

VOGUE: What do you like about Berlin – and what don't you like?
Gabrielle: So far, I like everything. I enjoy shopping here, I like the way the city looks. My godmother lives in Germany, in the Black Forest, so I feel close to her when I'm here. So far, there hasn't been any reason not to like anything here.
What do you like about the way the city looks?
I simply like how grey it is. I like how stark and brutalist it is. It's very chic.
We are now also starting into November in Berlin, a particularly gray time of year, hated by many.
Really? Why? Because it's so gloomy?
Exactly. But I think it depends on what you like. Do you have a favorite spot here?
I went to a restaurant called Ernst. It's closed now, but the food was really delicious, and they've turned it into a café. And my friends' vintage shop, Archangels. I enjoy shopping here and sitting in the parks. But honestly, I'm always only in Berlin for far too short a time.
If Berlin were an outfit, what would it be?
Berlin as an outfit would be black, maybe leggings or some kind of techwear with a zipper. I just imagine someone dancing. In Berghain, which I've never been to. But I imagine someone dancing in a black tech jacket with a zipper, a hot guy. And then girls with platinum blonde hair, also wearing black.
And if Berlin were a court, which one would it be?
Currywurst. That's that late-night dish, right?
What would you wear to Berghain?
Probably nothing! Something like a thong, comfortable shoes, and a leather jacket. I've never been there.
Which song could put you in the mood to go to Berghain?
I don't know... maybe the sound of my friends' laughter?
And what is your comfort food for the day after a night out?
I always say this, and people don't understand: cold food, things like smoothies and kale salad. I like cold things because I feel so dehydrated after going out.
This is a very healthy choice for a feel-good meal.
Yes, I think that's a very typical LA choice.
Gabbriette on her makeup favoritesDo you prefer to have your makeup done professionally or do you prefer to do your own makeup?
It depends on who's doing it. I love it when Leana does my makeup; we experiment a lot together. But if it's not someone I trust, then I usually do it myself.
What's the best makeup trick you've learned in your modeling career?
I've learned a lot about makeup in this industry and have come to realize that good skin is crucial – a good base is essential, whether that's a moisturizer or a primer. I also love applying bronzer around my lips to shade them before using lip liner to create a pout.
