Elon Musk's Mom Maye Musk Shares Rare Insight Into Bond With His Kids

Maye Musk is ready for the holiday season to begin.
Indeed, while Elon Musk’s mom pulled out all the stops for her 2025 Halloween costume, stepping out at Heidi Klum’s Halloween party Oct. 31 as the iconic Disney villain Cruella de Vil, she admitted she is looking forward to spending time with her loved ones in the coming months.
“It's with family—Thanksgiving and then Christmas and New Year,” Maye, 77, told E! News at Heidi’s Halloween party at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York City, “they've already planned where I'll be.”
As for who is joining her during the trio of festivities, the model revealed she’ll be seeing her “many grandkids.”
And there will be no shortage of company as the Tesla CEO is a dad of 14, including three kids with ex Grimes and a four with tech exec Shivon Zilis.
However, when she joins her son and his family over the holidays, she is ready to make a temporarily living space in her son’s garage if need be. Although she set the record straight on how exactly that came to fruition.
“At SpaceX, he had a tiny house, and I could sleep in a hotel 45 minutes away, or in his garage,” she explained. “He had a single bed there. And everybody says, ‘Oh, was it fabulous?’ I said, ‘No, there were boxes. It's a garage. There were boxes.’ I would rather sleep on a single bed rather than at a hotel 45 minutes away. There's no point in visiting then.”
It’s not the first time she’s done this either. “When my mom had a home in Canada, she had a garage as well and didn't have a spare room for me,” Maye noted, “so I sleep in the garage every time I visit her, I just put a bed in it. She didn't have a car.”
After all, who she is visiting always matters more than where she’ll sleep at the end of the day.
“I couch surf, whatever's available,” Maye added. “I'd rather see my kids and grandkids then than be in comfort.”
