Lieferando founder raises 115 million euros for new startup – Adidas and H&M are already customers

Talon One is growing internationally: Christoph Gerber's loyalty startup is convincing customers like H&M and Adidas – and positioning itself as an alternative to established providers like Salesforce.

Lieferando co-founder Christoph Gerber has secured financing of around 115 million euros for his loyalty startup Talon One.

Silversmith Capital Partners, which primarily invests in the tech and healthcare sectors, Meritech Capital, which, among other things, invested early in Salesforce, and the Californian venture capital firm CRV participated in the round.

Talon One offers a software-as-a-service solution for businesses that allows them to manage personalized promotions, loyalty programs, and voucher and discount campaigns. The Berlin-based startup was founded during Gerber's time at Lieferando – a direct response to mistakes he and his co-founders made with discount campaigns.

Talon One was founded in December 2015, after the sale of Lieferando to Takeaway in 2014, but before its IPO. The Lieferando exit was considered one of the most significant in the recent history of the German startup scene .

Talon One now serves approximately 270 clients in North America, Europe, and Asia. Among the most well-known are H&M, Adidas, Costa Coffee, Sephora, Ticketmaster, and Nordstrom. According to Gerber, the company currently employs 230 people.

With the new capital, Talon One plans to increasingly rely on artificial intelligence – particularly to better predict consumer purchasing behavior.

Talon One's main competitor is the Loyalty Cloud from Salesforce, a publicly traded US software company based in San Francisco. According to Gerber, however, Talon One stands out from the competition through its combination of promotions, loyalty, and gamification .
