Israel intercepts another rocket from Yemen

A rocket fired from Yemen triggered alarm in several areas of Israel. People in the coastal metropolis of Tel Aviv and other locations rushed to shelters overnight into Saturday. The army subsequently announced that a missile from Yemen had been intercepted by missile defense. There were no reports of injuries or major damage. Only in the days before, Israeli air defenses had been activated due to attacks from Yemen.
Since the beginning of the war between Israel and the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, the Houthi militia has repeatedly attacked Israel with rockets and drones—they claim to be an expression of their solidarity with Hamas. The Iranian-backed militia frequently targets Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv and Ramon Airport in the south of the country. In return, Israel attacks targets 2,000 kilometers away in Yemen, which it claims are linked to Houthi military activities.
At least 35 people were killed in the latest Israeli air force attack in Yemen on Wednesday, according to the Houthi-controlled Ministry of Health. At the end of August, the Houthi prime minister and several Israeli ministers were also killed.
