Greenwashing: Court bans Adidas advertising with major climate targets

Adidas is no longer allowed to advertise its climate goals
Sports goods manufacturer Adidas's statement "We will be climate neutral by 2050" was misleading and inadmissible. This is the result of a decision published by the Nuremberg-Fürth Regional Court. The German Environmental Aid Association (DGU) filed the lawsuit, which it considered the now-removed passage on the Adidas website to be "greenwashing."
Adidas failed to adequately explain how it intended to achieve climate neutrality. The impression created that this could be achieved through reducing emissions alone was false. In fact, the company also intends to use the purchase of offsetting certificates to achieve its goals.
