Escalation over Kashmir: India reports drone attacks from Pakistan
- India has attacked the Pakistani-controlled part of the border region of Kashmir and the Pakistani region of Punjab with missiles.
- Pakistan responded immediately, claiming to have shot down several Indian fighter jets . There were reported exchanges of fire at several locations along the border.
- The escalation between the two nuclear-armed powers follows an attack on Indian tourists in the Indian part of Kashmir on April 22, which killed 26 people.
- India accused Pakistan of involvement in the attack . The government in Islamabad denies this.
